After 35 years in the fire service, I started a life insurance business. I saw that the very people that selflessly help others, often had gaps when it came to protecting their family. This is about making sure that if the unthinkable happens, the people you love can stay in their home, pay the bills, and keep their future on track.
This service was build to help First Responders: firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, and police officers to get protection they need.
You protect others, who protects your family?

Life Insurance that fits your families' needs
There is no one-size-fits-all policy. The right coverage depends on your career stage, family situation, and budget.
Term Life Insurance
Covers you for a set period, such as 10, 20, or 30 years, often matching a mortgage or years until retirement.
Generally offers lower premiums, making it a cost-effective way to secure higher coverage while you are actively working.
Ends when the term expires, so it is best for temporary or time-limited needs.

Permanent Life Insurance
Provides lifetime coverage as long as premiums are paid, which can be valuable as health risks and age increase.
Builds cash value that grows tax-deferred and can be accessed for emergencies, opportunities, or supplemental retirement income.
Has higher premiums but offers long-term stability, flexibility, and potential living benefits.
Many first responders benefit from combining term and permanent coverage to balance affordability now with lifelong protection and future options. Sam explains each choice in plain language so you can see clearly what fits your family and your goals.
Finding the right fit matters

Term Life Insurance
Sam took the time to explain exactly what my department coverage did and didn’t do for my family. For the first time in 20 years as a firefighter, I feel like we have a real plan if something happens to me.
– Mike R., Fire Captain

My husband is a firefighter and I’d always worried about what would happen if he didn’t come home. Sam walked us through options in plain English and never pushed us. We ended up with coverage that actually fits our budget.
– Jason L., Police Sergeant

As a police officer with two young kids, I always meant to ‘get around’ to life insurance. Sam made the process simple, clear, and respectful of my schedule. Now I know my family will be okay no matter what.

First Responder Considerations & Checklist
Standard insurance materials often miss the way shift work, overtime, and long-term exposure shape a first responder’s life and benefits. This approach is built around those realities.
Key Considerations
Department or agency coverage, if available, often decreases or ends when you retire, change jobs, or leave the service.
Survivor benefits may not fully replace your full pay, including overtime and off-duty work, leaving your family with a gap in monthly income.
Exposure to health risks (cardiac issues, cancer, respiratory problems), as well as off-the-job accidents can affect insurability later, so locking in coverage early can save money and preserve options.
Permanent life insurance can support long-term planning and may be part of a strategy to protect your spouse’s retirement and overall financial stability.
Do you know exactly how much life insurance your department or agency provides today and what happens to it when you retire or leave?
If something happened tomorrow, would your family be able to pay off the mortgage, cover major debts, and keep up with everyday expenses?
Are you balancing short-term affordability with long-term security by choosing the right mix of term and permanent coverage?
Have you considered how job-related health risks could affect your ability to qualify for new coverage later in life?
Does your current policy allow adjustments, conversions, or access to living benefits if you face a serious illness or injury?
Quick Checklist
If any question gives you pause, it is a good sign that a conversation could bring clarity and peace of mind.

About Sam
Sam Richesson spent 35 years in the fire service, where the work and the people beside him shaped who he is and how he serves today. Years of training, shared calls, and seeing others on their best and worst days convinced him that protecting families is just as important as protecting communities.
After three decades on the job, Sam became an independent life insurance professional, focusing on firefighters, police officers, EMTs, paramedics, and other first responders and their families. He understands that planning for worst-case scenarios can feel heavy, so the first meeting is simply a conversation about you, your family, and what you want them to have if the unthinkable ever happens.
You choose where and how you meet – at your kitchen table, in the station dayroom, at a coffee shop, or by phone or video. Sam’s goal is to help you make clear, confident decisions that protect the people you go home to after every shift.
